Great Lakes Aggregates Quality Control

The QC department is responsible for sampling and testing our aggregate products as specified by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) or customer specifications. The lab technicians play critical roles in making certain the products developed and produced at our quarry and recycled facilities achieve the high quality our customers expect. Our lab technician’s professional approach to their work guarantees our products will meet or exceed federal and state specifications.

Samples are taken for two basic reasons. One is to “control” product quality during the production process and storage phase. Samples are obtained during production and the results are used to make adjustments to the crushing and screening process. The second reason for sampling is to “verify” product quality during shipment. When “control” is properly addressed, samples taken for verification of quality during the shipment phase will serve the purpose of quality assurance and for certification of our product.
